God is using satan’s useful idiots to win His battles
Satan’s useful idiots are those non-thinking people whom satan has taken control of via their use of his sinful pleasures. Maybe once upon a time they were able to think for themselves, but were progressively dumbed down by satan who demands control as the price for his sinful wares. And, the first casualty of satan’s dumbing down process is to diminish his victim’s discernment. That is, the more that people partake of satan’s pleasures, the less they are aware of the control satan has placed upon them. Eventually people who partake freely of satan’s wares over a period of time lose their ability to think for themselves. They have become his living dead; they are his useful idiots, ready to do their master’s bidding without question. Of course, satan is not personally involved with the dumbing down of his servants; he has a myriad of demons (evil angels) who serve their master well by producing an ever-increasing number of living-dead zombies: satan’s useful idiots!

Most of satan’s useful idiots are actually unaware that they are no longer able to think for themselves. A lot of the work of satan and his demons is via the mind; they plant thoughts and suggestions in people’s minds in such a way that such people think it is their own thinking that comes up with such plans. And, just like people with dementia, they are generally completely unaware where their thinking comes from, or that they actually no longer can think for themselves. They have become puppets controlled by satan and his demons, dancing to the tune that they unbelievably think is their own tune! They are satan’s useful idiots!

Over the years satan has built his army of useful idiots, ever ready to do his bidding while at the same time thinking that they made the decisions themselves. However, one day there will be a reckoning; satan’s control will be challenged in a time that would soon lead to the end of the world as we know it today. That time, the end-times of our world, is upon us now; it will culminate in Armageddon and the return of Christ the Messiah to rule in His 1000-year millennium of peace and prosperity. The end-times are characterized by God taking control back from sinful mankind as He declares war upon a sinful world and its sinful leaders. God is now working toward reclaiming title to His creation, particularly His special people Israel.

In order for God to reclaim title to His creation, He needs to declare war on satan and his useful idiots who currently hold so much of this title. While man has dominion over the earth (granted by God in Genesis 1:26), satan via his control of much of mankind has gained a de facto dominion through his useful idiots worldwide. It is through this war declared by God that satan (via his useful idiots) will be challenged for this title; such warfare would be primarily spiritual but this spiritual warfare will engulf the world in a physical war that will cause destruction and disaster on a scale never seen before. However, the end result of a war such as this will return to God all title for His creation, especially His people Israel. And, satan and his useful idiots will have absolutely no title to anything by the end (which is marked by Armageddon and the return of Christ the Messiah).

So how will this all be accomplished? Of course, it will be war that will determine the end result, but how will this war be fought? God has declared these end-times to be His “day of the Lord” (see Joel Ch.2&3 which is a picture of the end-times redemption of His people Israel). The day of the Lord means a time when God overrules man’s dominion according to the desires of His will; and God’s will here is clear: the redemption of His people Israel, and the reclaiming of His created world in which His redeemed Israel will dwell. Put simply, God will take charge of all and everything in the world He considers necessary to achieve His will.

Back in the days of Moses, God set pharaoh in place in order that he would fight over the title to the people of Israel. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. (Romans 9:17) Pharaoh was set up for this battle and he wouldn’t be permitted to back off or retreat from the battle until Egypt lost the battle to keep Israel as slaves. To ensure that pharaoh remained in the battle without retreating, God “hardened his heart”, locking him in to the battle, unable to choose to back off the battle. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him: And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD. (Exodus 10:1-2)
Paul also said much the same in Romans 9:18 where “hardeneth” is the Greek word skleruno which means to be set hard, inflexible, without option to change. God set up pharaoh to fight this battle and made him stay fighting until God had won all title to His people Israel. Satan had taught pharaoh well in all manner of evil; he was satan’s useful idiot in Egypt; now God had taken control of satan’s evil and was using it for His own purposes. In a way this was God’s day of the Lord in Egypt at that time.

Joel describes plagues of locusts which ravage Judah, eating all vegetation, causing famine and death throughout the land. At that time Judah was under the control of wicked queen Athaliah and God had now declared judgement upon the land until the sin was dealt with. He caused the locusts to ravage Judah and no-one could stop them. God called them His army; they were under His control. Overall Joel is a picture of the end-times of this world when God will reclaim His people Israel forever; in fact, He is in the process of reclaiming them right now; Joel pictures these very times we are living in today. The locusts were naturally destructive; God took control of their destruction and used it to turn His people back to Him in repentance.

The locusts therefore represent satan’s useful idiots of today whom God is manipulating in order to cause His people Israel to repent, and to defeat satan’s hold on this world. Likewise pharaoh also represents God taking control of satan’s useful idiots today for the purpose of redeeming title of Israel and all creation.

If these are the end-times today (and there is little doubt that this is so), then God has declared His day of the Lord (most likely on 7th October 2023 to begin with). God has placed people where He wants them around the world in order to bring about firstly the conflict that will return all title to Himself, and secondly to defeat satan and his huge army of useful idiots. And the battle once commenced will not cease until God has won all title, and satan and his useful idiots hold no title at all.

This means that what is seen as evil in so many places today is likely to be according to God’s will. No, God does not do evil, nor does He make people evil. But, just as with pharaoh, and also the locusts, He will use the evil satan has already taught his useful idiots, causing this evil to bring conflict that will eventually result in loss to satan and his useful idiots. Confrontation is the name of the end-times game now; and the confrontation will continue until the battle is ended and the victory won by sovereign God.

Observe all those useful idiots of satan who have come out of the woodwork to oppose Israel after a bunch of cowardly terrorists attacked and killed, maimed, abused, kidnapped so many unarmed civilians (many of whom were women and children) – such bravery!!! These cowards were useful idiots whom God permitted to do this. But would God cause such misery for His people? Many prophecies declare that Israel will have to experience great tribulation and affliction, more that at any other time in their history. Jeremiah Ch.30 declares this time to be the time of Jacob’s trouble, a time which will render Israel with a terminal illness without cure or medication; that is, Israel will have to suffer facing certain death as a nation without remedy. Then, upon facing certain destruction, God will provide the remedy; He will redeem His people. Joel says it will be because they have called upon the name of the Lord to be delivered (Joel 2:32); they have cried out in their desperation to be saved. Zechariah 13:8-9 says that 2/3 of them will not do repent, and God will let them be destroyed. But 1/3 will repent, be purged of their iniquity in the furnace of affliction, and will be redeemed and be granted everlasting righteousness.

And note carefully that it is the work of those useful idiots that will achieve this for Israel. God will use their opposition to break Israel in order that Israel will do that which they refused to do 2000 years ago: accept Christ when He came as their Messiah. Their refusal to accept Him caused God to reject them as a nation for 2000 years now. God called them to be a kingdom of priests to the nations (Exodus 19:6), yet they have never fulfilled this requirement; they have consistently rebelled against God’s law. Even captivity failed to bring them back as a nation to God. Nothing has ever yet managed to break them enough to return to God in repentance as a nation. These end-times now are the make or break; they will be broken beyond any previous breaking. Those who repent before God will be redeemed; those who do not repent will be rejected by God from being called Israel. (Romans 2:28-29) Only those who are spiritually the descendants of Abraham will be declared God’s Israel; those who are only physically of Abraham will not. These end-times are the final call for Israel. Those who do not repent will no longer be Israel.

This is the end-times day of the Lord. God runs the show. Satan’s useful idiots, like Joel’s locusts, have been commandeered in order to control all events leading up to the end at Armageddon when Christ returns to rule over His people Israel. And, as it was with pharaoh, there’s nothing satan can do to change what’s been prophesied to happen. God is controlling so much of satan’s army of useful idiots; they do the evil that satan has taught them to do, but it is God who now controls which evil they do, for how long, to whom and where. The world is mostly opposed to God and His people; this then leads to conflicts that can only end when God has won the battle and claimed title to His creation. And satan’s useful idiots will not be permitted to back off the battle until God wins the victory.

Israel will face the greatest affliction ever in all its history; there is no easy pathway to the redemption of Israel. And God will be orchestrating much of this affliction using satan’s useful idiots to do His will. The world is already now filled with nations and peoples who would rather support terrorists than give support for Israel. World leaders and influential people (and many not so influential also) are lining up to have their turn to hate Israel and to love her enemies. This is all just a part of God’s end-times day of the Lord plans according to prophecy. At the end of all this, the world will be judged according to whether or not they have given support to Israel; they will be judged either sheep (supporters of Israel) or goats (not supporters of Israel). The sheep will be blessed with life; the goats with eternal condemnation.

So do not be surprised nor amazed at how evil the world seems to have become. It is merely what God has planned in these end-times. Evil will become the new good. Political correctness will generally define the evil which has become the new good. Be aware that these things must be so, and are part of God’s end-times day of the Lord. Disasters will increase, and death and destruction will abound. Much evil will rule until the evil is destroyed and God reclaims His title to His creation. Think of it all as a domino series where one domino falling causes the rest of the dominoes to fall in their turn. 7th Oct 2023 may have been the first domino, with all other dominoes falling in the order that God has ordained according to His will. All major world events, especially in the middle-east and particularly Israel, are the various dominoes; they will fall exactly as God has prophesied. In these end-times God has sovereign control over all events. On the other hand, satan has lost his de facto control over world events; his useful idiots are no longer useful to him, but instead to God.

The signs that the biblical end-times are now
Matthew 24 tells us a lot about the end-times of this world, culminating in Armageddon and the return of Christ the Messiah. And that we are meant to recognize its approach. When we see certain things happening today, we should recognize that the end is near.
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. (Matthew 24:21-22; 32-33)

While we are not to know the exact day or time when Christ should return, we are to know the signs that His appearing is immanent. So what signs should we look for?

1/. Increased wickedness that opposes biblical teachings more and more. Such teachings include sexual alternatives to God’s two sexes of man and woman; a general hatred toward the legitimacy of Israel; an increase in support for religions that oppose the God of the Bible and His people; and growing opposition (often violent or vilifying) to anything biblical.

2/. Increased readiness to go to war especially noted in the middle-east currently in opposition to Israel (see Ezekiel 38).

3/. Increased human suffering including famines and persecution of those who stand against wickedness.

4/. Increase in amount and extent of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods fires, storms.

All these are the beginning of sorrows (= birth pains). (Matthew 24:8) All these above occur as signs that something big is about to happen. Global turmoil will increase as Christ’s return to judge the world approaches. Genuine Christians are warned to be vigilant and prepared for the return of Christ to take them out of this world before the 7 years of disaster judgements of God hit the earth.

5/. The first provable event of the immanence of Christ’s return is that the Church of genuine Christian believers will be taken away (snatched away) to heaven by Christ. This is often termed the Rapture. The world in general may not be aware of this event at the time but should notice that many Bible-believing Christians will suddenly not be there among them. Many who attend church may however not disappear; far too many believe in a non-biblical gospel such as calvinism, mormons, jehovah’s witnesses, and other worldly or cult-like beliefs.

6/. World war will erupt in the middle-east with an army (including from Iran, Turkey, Russia, Libya and Ethiopia) invading Israel.

It is not certain exactly when the Church will be taken away from the earth, but it is likely to be just before or after the time Israel is invaded.

7/. When Israel is invaded, a ruler of Europe (unknown as yet, only to be revealed as the antichrist after the Church has been taken away) will sign a defence treaty or pact with Israel. At this point there will be just seven years left remaining before Armageddon. Once the Church has departed earth, it will be too late for most people to be saved, for now salvation is no longer via the Gentile (non-Israel) church, returning to Israel.

8/. A European army (led by the one who will be called the antichrist) will attack the invading armies and utterly destroy them; also sending destruction upon the nations from where the invading armies came. The war commenced by the antichrist will continue for seven years, culminating in the final battle to end all battles: Armageddon.

9/. There will be seven years of the most intense affliction ever, so much so that it is already termed the great Tribulation. Joel says “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joel 2:31), and Jesus said, “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” (Matthew 24:21-22)

10/. Either before or soon after the antichrist defeats the armies invading Israel, a new Temple will be built in order that Old Testament sacrifices be restored; these sacrifices will be cancelled again at the mid-point of those seven years when the antichrist sits in the Temple demanding that God’s people Israel worship him in the Temple (as satan) (see Daniel 9:27).

11/. To make way for the new Temple, other buildings and structures on Temple Mount will be removed or destroyed first. This may or may not occur before the Church departs the earth.

12/. Seven years after the antichrist signs that defence treaty with Israel, the antichrist attacks Jerusalem with a huge army of all the nations, with Christ returning to destroy the antichrist’s army before setting up His 1000 year millennial kingdom of peace.

13/. Israel will take possession of all Palestine; all other dwellers will be removed either before the coming 7-year period, or during it.

14/. Eventually Israel will be granted all its land as promised via the Abrahamic covenant, including land now controlled by Jordan, Lebanon and Gaza. Tyre will be rendered uninhabitable, and Gaza will become a place for grazing livestock.

15/. The purpose of these end-times is for God to reclaim title to His people Israel and to the world He created. When Christ sets up His 1000 reign on earth, He will possess title to all His creation and to His people Israel (plus others who have become associated with Israel because of their support for Israel. This requires world leaders to be challenged for that title just as God called Moses to challenge pharaoh for the title of God’s people Israel. And just as God chose pharaoh to be the one Moses challenged (Romans 9:17), God has chosen much of today’s world leadership to be challenged so that God would win the title He desires. And just as pharaoh was not permitted to back off the battle until he’d lost all, today’s leaders will not be permitted to back off the battle until they too have lost all that God demands of them.

So what does this talk of prophecy all mean to you? If it is reasonably true (and current events certainly do seem to be lining up with much end-times prophecy), then you should assess what it means to you. If these are the end-times, then Israel is being prepared by God to return to being God’s ministry people after 2000 years of being sidelined for their unbelief re their Messiah (Christ) when He walked this earth. Daniel 9:24-27 makes it clear that there is a 7-year ministry period yet remaining to Israel (one week of years) before Armageddon and the return of Christ their Messiah as their King, to rule over them for 1000 years. That remaining 7-year ministry of Israel has not yet begun, for while the Church still remains here on earth, salvation cannot, will not, return to Israel. Romans 11:25-27 tells us that when the Church (the time of the Gentiles) is fulfilled (completed), the Deliverer (or Saviour) will return to Israel and all Israel will now be saved (during that final 7-year period of Israel’s ministry before their Messiah returns at Armageddon). Currently salvation is through the Church, but one day soon the Church will be completed (fulfilled) and they will be snatched away in an event called the Rapture (which means “the snatching away”). The trumpet call will go out to the Church here on earth (1 Corinthians 15:51-53) and the Church (of those who genuinely believe in Christ as Saviour) will be called home. It is likely that only those who are snatched away will actually be aware of this calling to come home.

Then salvation will return to Israel. Right now salvation is through the Church but when the Church is snatched away, then salvation may only be found through Israel’s ministry. If you are not of Israel, then you are a Gentile, and once the Gentile Church has been called home in the Rapture, then there will be very little opportunity to be saved unless you are associated with Israel and its ministry. Effectively, if you are not of Israel, then once the Church is Raptured home to heaven, then you are unlikely to be saved from that time on. The Bible says “behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) It is still now acceptable for those of non-Israel nations to be saved, but if these are the end-times, then the door may shut for you once the Church has been taken home to heaven.

After the Church has departed earth then salvation returns to being through Israel’s ministry. For just 7 more years all of Israel who will call upon the name of the Lord will be delivered (saved) (Joel 2:32). And then when satan builds his antichrist forces to oppose Jerusalem at Armageddon, Christ the Messiah will return to defeat all Israel’s enemies, and will then bring judgement upon all those of the nations who would not support Israel during this final 7-year period. During this final 7-year period (often called the Tribulation), those of Israel will be required worship the antichrist (when he sits in the Temple to be worshipped by them) or they will be executed. God enables much of Israel to run to safety (Revelation 12:14-17) with those not able to escape being hunted down and slaughtered. Jesus said (in Matthew 24:15-21) that when Israel saw the abomination that Daniel spoke of (see Daniel 9:27), at the mid-point of the Tribulation, they were to escape as quickly as possible or else. If you are not yet saved through trust in Jesus Christ then do it now for time is short, very short!

So if these are the end-times (and it does appear almost impossible that the world could pull back from the brink now), then certain prophetical facts must be noted.

1/. While it does appear that satan and evil are overwhelming the world today, the opposite is the reality. God is in charge; it’s His day of the Lord. Like He did with pharaoh in Egypt, He is now manipulating the evil of satan’s servants in this world in order to achieve the ultimate defeat of His enemies.

2/. Just like pharaoh, God has set people up in positions of authority in order to cause them to face the battle that will render title to Israel back to God. For God to win, there must be a battle fought to the end where God’s enemies cannot back off; they must fight the battle until their evil returns what title they have to God.

3/. Just like Joel’s locust plagues, God will dictate how His enemies behave and manipulate their actions to bring about His will concerning His people Israel, and the world in general. In this day of the Lord, God totally controls world decision-making.

4/. Iran will continue to play the game of deceit. Their time-wasting “negotiations” are hudna: a strategic ceasefire for the purpose of regrouping and rebuilding their attack capabilities for future aggression. Ultimately however, Iran will soon gather forces with its allies and invade Israel regardless of how many hudnas it can get away with.

5/. No matter how much Trump (and USA) cry out against senseless negotiations, ultimately what happens will be according to God’s will alone.

6/. It is Europe (the revived Roman empire) that will come to Israel’s aid when she is invaded. USA will not play a major part in this, if any part at all is played. Therefore soon USA will find any excuse to back off from a war that is consuming their resources without achieving the victory (or be forced by circumstances to back off).

7/. Europe will continue to amass its forces to oppose the Russian threat, and may consider making a pre-emptive strike especially while Russia is preoccupied with other conflicts, such as in Israel. Germany is currently building its forces quickly.

8/. Russia may temporarily sideline its Ukraine conflict to conserve fuel which Ukraine is rapidly depleting via massive drone attacks.

9/. Turkey will commence trying to justify why it should join Iran in invading Israel.

10/. USA will part company with Israel; the military alliance is all but dead in the water even now. Against the orders of others who think they should be controlling the situation, Israel will continue to oppose terrorists in Gaza and Lebanon who will continue to try to destroy Israel on behalf of their masters in Iran, the IRGC.

11/. China does not appear to play any significant part in the current conflict. Prophecy does seem to indicate that they (as “the kings of the east”) make their move in the buildup to Armageddon (Revelation 16:12).

12/. World leaders continue to bad-mouth Israel while speaking political platitudes of support. The people of the world will more and more be forced to take sides re Israel.

13/. The UN, supposedly representative of world “morals” continues to oppose Israel.

14/. Politically correct views will be used to suppress more and more Godly teachings. More and more, support for biblical teachings will be declared illegal.

15/. When Europe signs a covenant with Israel, there’s only 7 years to Armageddon.

We might look at world leaders today and wonder just how did they ever get to be elected? So many seem to be incompetent or evil, or even both incompetent and evil. Godlessness (aka political correctness in most cases) seems to be a prerequisite to getting votes in many nations.

In Australia we have a federal government that seems unable to tell the truth. Everyone seems to know this, and yet there are still so many who seem to find this acceptable. Our Australian government is openly supportive of the Gazan terrorists in spite of its rhetoric that it is not anti-Israel. Yet there is online video allegedly showing our PM speaking into a megaphone at an anti-Israel rally in Sydney in 2000. “Albanese faced questions over footage showing him at a Palestine rally in 2000. In the clip, Albanese is heard accusing Israel of using tanks and missiles against ‘children throwing rocks’.” (dailymail.co.uk 26/12/25)

Most UN member states appear to prefer the terrorists rather than support Israel. If the terrorists murder, pillage, rape civilians, then it is claimed as a legitimate act of resistance against Israel whom they prefer to describe as genocidal. Many might think that if these are the end-times, then surely Israel would be favoured to win support from others. However, it is the end-times that actually require the world in general to be in conflict with Israel. It is the conflict that will cause world title, now held by satan, to be returned to God and His people.

The final 7-year period often called the Tribulation will be an effort to either get Israel to worship the antichrist or, failing that, to utterly destroy that which refuses to worship the antichrist. All people will have to choose this day whom they will serve: God and His people Israel, or satan’s world which hates God and His people Israel. Our leaders in these end-times, despite their evil, are part of God’s plan to regain title to the world and His people Israel. They will be like pharaoh: drawn into conflict with God’s people in order for God to win title through His people. In the Bible, Egypt symbolizes the world and pharaoh symbolizes worldly leaders in the world. God used the conflict between pharaoh and Moses to win title to His people Israel to set them free from satan’s Egypt. It was necessary for pharaoh to be used to oppose Moses, and thus pharaoh had to be an evil servant of satan. The title to Israel could only be won via such conflict. There is no real victory without a battle!

Today it is necessary for the world leaders in general, like pharaoh, to stand in opposition to Israel so that these world leaders may eventually concede victory to God and His people. It is necessary that world leaders generally be servants of satan in order that God may, through conflict, win title to Israel and to the world. And it is necessary for God to reclaim title to His people Israel and His world before handing it to Christ the Messiah for His millennial reign of peace and prosperity following Armageddon. During that millennium, satan and his evil angels (demons) will not be permitted any access to any title on earth. Satan will be locked away until the end of the millennium, after which he will be set free for a season to gather one last force against God’s people. God will send fire from heaven and destroy them, and satan’s rule will be ended forever (Revelation 20: 1-10).

Satan has spent many centuries gaining de facto title to the world via his servants. This is what happened before Noah’s flood and satan has been building his title portfolio again ever since, by the continued selling of his illicit wares. Once he holds property or title of any sort, he won’t let it go if at all possible. If it stays off the market, then a property remains unsold. Think of it a different way. If a person holds a title for some sporting ability, then in many cases he holds it until he accepts a challenge. Until he accepts that challenge, he theoretically cannot lose that title. For example, it takes a fight to take the title off a boxing champion, so if he won’t accept the fight, then he may well retain his title; fighting a match may put his title at risk. In a way this is what happened with Egypt’s pharaoh; it took Moses to challenge him in a conflict that pharaoh was unable to back off from later on until he lost the title (the title to ownership of Israel in this case). Fights are often necessary to win something.

Today satan holds a lot of title in our world. But since the Ottoman empire (Turkey) was defeated in WW1, and the Balfour Declaration of 1917 allocated Palestine to Israel, satan has been defending his title portfolio. He would have wanted to keep Palestine because this would keep Israel out. The Balfour Declaration was not good for satan. Then when Israel took a small part of Palestine in 1948, satan’s portfolio took another hit. The original land of Israel especially with Jerusalem and particularly the Temple Mount was under satan’s control for a long time, but now the fight was on to keep his title to this property. The thing is that once it became a battleground, it could be lost; “no battle” was better if he wanted to keep his title to this property.

In fact, this is what it’s all about. Satan can hold his property better if he doesn’t have to fight for it; fighting introduces a real risk of losing it. It is clear from prophecy, however, that if God is to take back title for His people Israel and for His created world in general, He will choose to win it through conflict, just as He won title for His people Israel via the conflict which pharaoh lost against God’s servant Moses.

Today God has set things up in the world that will cause satan to have to defend his title through conflict. We can see how politics have become divisive issues lately, with strong feelings for and against leaders and such. Satan will be desperate to retain Palestine, Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, necessary for the control of God’s people Israel. Therefore this is where the conflict will be centred. Satan’s servants are being pressured to fight for control of Israel especially Jerusalem. The 2017 hamas charter demands control of Israel’s land and for Jerusalem as their capital. And Temple Mount will become the hottest property in the world soon.

But the conflict isn’t only over Israel. God is going to take back title for the whole world, leaving not one place at all for satan and his servants. Armageddon will complete God’s battles for the takeover of the whole world in readiness for the 1000-year reign of peace over the whole world by Christ the Messiah.

There will be a coming 7-year period culminating with Armageddon, with the world in such conflict that destruction on a massive occurs. Wars, famines, earthquakes, ultra-mass-fatalities, extreme natural disasters; this 7-year period will have it all, more destructive than all the disaster movies put together! And God wins all title!

It must be noted carefully that the God of the Bible (and of His Church, and of His people Israel) is not the God of any other religion that claims his name as their God. In particular, the God of Islam is not the God of the Bible. Regardless of what people claim, the god Allah is not the God of the Bible. They are 2 separate and distinct beings. If we look at the words and writings of both Islam and Christianity/Judaism, it is clear that the Gods of each religion have teachings that oppose each other. Christianity’s God is a God of love, one who died in the place of sinful man so that man could escape the righteous judgement for his sin. There is no similar record of such teachings in Islam. Instead, Islam is a religion of works, where one must work to obtain the pleasure of his God. Those muslims who die allegedly for their faith are proclaimed martyrs which appears to be the ultimate work to please their God. While the Christian is required to love his enemies and do good to those who persecute him, the muslim is rather to defend his beliefs by physically opposing those who would dare to oppose them. And the Christian cannot attain to heaven by works; it is by faith in God who has died for them in their place. On the other hand, for muslims, there does not appear to be any salvation through belief in the substitutionary death of their God in their place; there is no Christ/God figure who paid for their sins in full.

The ultimate definition of any God can be seen by looking at those who serve him. Christians are to be ambassadors for Christ who is God (2 Corinthians 5:20); they must show to the world the attributes of the one whom they serve. Thus they must show love, justice, care to those around them, and it should not make any difference if those around them hate them – they are commanded to show love by doing good to even those who hate them! Any Christian who does not demonstrate Christ-like attributes to others is not a good Christian, or may not even be a genuine Christian! Fightings among Christians is declared the sinful consequences of our sinful nature.
James 4:1 – From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 

However, Islam does appear to strongly encourage defending of their faith via physical violence, rather than meekly accept hurt from others without returning the violence. The best definition of a person’s God is to see how that person behaves. A good servant of any God will try to behave as much like their God as possible, to imitate their God. There’s a saying “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”; imitating your God is definitely a form of worship.
1 John 2:6 – He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. That is, if we claim to be the servant of God, we should live our lives as our God (Christ) lived His. Effectively this must be true. And likewise true for servants of Gods of other religions. Your behaviour demonstrates the type of God you serve.
that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. (1 Timothy 1:16)
Thus, if two people who claim to serve a God walk completely different lives from each other, then it is reasonable to assume that they serve two different Gods. Clearly muslims worship a different God to the God of the Bible.

Keeping in mind Joel’s picture of the end-times “day of the Lord”, we can see that much world decision-making will not be of man but according to God’s sovereign will. Add to this Ezekiel’s prophecy (Ch.38) that in the end-times war that triggers WW3 culminating in Armageddon, Israel’s enemies will be drawn by hooks in their jaws (Ezekiel 38:4) to go to battle and invade Israel; they will not have a choice at all; they won’t be able to choose to not invade Israel! Prophecy says that certain countries (Persia, Turkey, Russia, Libya, Ethiopia etc) will be made to attack and invade Israel and then be utterly destroyed once they invade. Effectively, God is causing these nations to attack Israel in order that they would be destroyed, and to bring the antichrist into the picture when he comes to “save” Israel. All Israel’s enemies will be drawn into a huge war arena which ultimately culminates in Armageddon where all Israel’s enemies will be totally wiped out. In these end-times, God will draw Israel’s (and therefore His) enemies into battle to be destroyed; this is His end-times day of the Lord judgement. All who oppose Israel will be forced into battle to receive their judgement. After Armageddon, Christ the Messiah (who has returned to genuinely save His people Israel) will set up His millennial reign of peace and prosperity.

Zechariah 12:2-3 – 2Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Zechariah 14:2-3 – 2For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
Zechariah 14:12 – And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
Revelation 14:19-20 – 19And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20And the winepress was trodden without the city (that is, outside Jerusalem), and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. 

We hear a lot about peace agreements and negotiations between USA and Iran (Israel has been denied any part in these discussions). Not one of these “discussions” will amount to anything else other than what God wills to happen. They can talk endlessly but what will happen is what God has already decided will happen! Satan’s servants, to use Joel’s locust analogy, are now God’s army, made to use the evil satan has taught them, in order to turn His people back to God, and to judge the world in righteousness.

Joel gives us an interesting biblical aspect of these end-times. He uses the term “day of the Lord” 5 times in just 3 chapters (Joel 1:15; 2:1; 2:11; 2:31; 3:14). The term always applies to times when God overrules man’s dominion in order to establish His sovereign will. It often refers to the end-times (which we may be in the early stages of now). In Genesis 1:26 God gave man dominion over the earth and everything in it. This effectively shut satan out of any direct control of the earth, requiring satan to have to work through the control of mankind in order to gain a de facto dominion (but not the real thing!). Likewise, God has permitted man some freedom of will necessary for effective dominion, and has chosen to generally not overrule man. God does at times overrule man’s dominion. When He does so, it’s often what insurance companies would call an “act of God”! God overruled man by sending Noah’s flood to cut their dominion short. But in general God does stay out of man’s dominion decisions (which often simply prove man’s stupidity!). Satan has to work through mankind to have a de facto dominion on earth, and God works through His people (today being the Church, soon to be replaced by Israel once more).

While Joel almost 3000 years ago was initially writing about the events of his day (locust plagues, famine, etc), it is clear that he was actually painting a picture of what it would be like in the last days of this earth including Armageddon and after. His use of the “day of the Lord” indicates that in the end-times God will overrule man’s decision-making dominion on earth in order to establish His will that will ultimately lead to the redemption and everlasting righteousness of His people Israel. The locusts of Joel’s day represented God’s judgement on His people; God called them “His army”, and the people were unable to stop them or even turn them aside at all. They would oppress God’s people until they repented of their sins and turned back to God. Then and only then would the locusts be turned aside and destroyed.

Today those in positions of authority are there by God will, as also for every person who will play a part in the end-times. Satan no longer will have the de facto dominion he has enjoyed for so long. His faithful servants are largely controlled instead by God. Joel pictures them as no longer under satan’s control; they are effectively God’s army of judgement, for His people, and also for the whole world itself. In the end-times God will not lose control; instead He will vastly increase His control over world affairs. Egypt’s pharaoh in the days of Moses was set up in place in order to fight the battle with Moses which pharaoh was made to lose in order for God to take back title to His people Israel. “Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.” (Romans 9:17) Pharoah (satan’s servant) would be made to oppose God until pharaoh had lost; God wouldn’t let pharaoh turn away from his evil; He hardened pharaoh’s heart; and Israel was set free. Likewise in the end-times God will cause satan and his servants to continue in the conflict until God has won the victory: that is, He takes back title of ownership of His people Israel. Satan’s servants are fighting in this battle and will do so until they are defeated, and satan and his servants cannot prevent God winning this victory, and satan and his servants losing!

If these are the end-times of the world as we know it, then they started on 7th Oct 2023 when Gaza terrorists invaded Israel, killing, maiming, torturing, raping around 1200 people, most of whom were unarmed civilians, including many children and even beheading babies. Today we have before 7th Oct and after 7th Oct. The atrocities that occurred on 7th Oct changed our world forever. Before 7th Oct the world knew but generally didn’t care much about what happened in Israel. But immediately after 7th Oct we saw anti-Israel demonstrations and pro-palestinian demonstrations around the world on a daily basis. It seemed everyone had a point of view on the matter. The most noisy, most vocal raged against Israel in the streets; the more they could get in the faces of people around them the better. Jewish people and institutions began to be targeted, often violently. So many of the world’s countries openly supported the right of the palestinians to allegedly resist, condemning Israel for “war crimes”, “genocide”, etc. The UN got into the act by taking up the cry against Israel, and the ICC charged various Israeli people with war crimes, making it difficult for them to travel without being arrested. The term “Crystal Nacht”, not heard widely since WW2, suddenly arose with its imagery of broken glass and destruction in Germany when the Jews were physically and violently opposed as a race. People are now being forced to take sides more and more; there’s no sitting on the fence any more claiming that “It’s nothing to do with me!” The Islamic Council of Victoria president Adel Salman even stated that the terrorism of 7th Oct was a legitimate act of resistance. “We denounce any violence and killing of civilians. What we don’t denounce very clearly is legitimate acts of resistance,” Mr Salman said. “And for the Palestinians to rise up on October the 7th, and say, we’re no longer going to tolerate this siege, this occupation, that’s legitimate.” (Sky 24/02/2024) That is, it’s OK to kill, torture, maim, rape civilians because it’s an act of resistance! Understandably the Jewish community was somewhat upset by this!

In Australia an antisemitic envoy was appointed after a lot of pressure was placed on the federal government to do so. But, one couldn’t be appointed until an “islamophobia” envoy was also appointed, even though the bulk of the violence was focused upon Jews. However, it did show up one important aspect of the coming seven-year tribulation period, where, after Armageddon, Christ, as God, will judge all the nations to be sheep or goats (Matthew 25:21-46). Those who give support to His people (Israel) will be judged to be sheep and given eternal life, while the rest (the ones who did not give support to His people Israel) will be judged to be goats and given everlasting punishment. It is not important when the judgement occurs, only that it is most likely to do with events in these end times where Israel will be persecuted more than any other time in their history.

The end-times are for God to reclaim His world from satan’s oppression. He will also (a) judge the world according to where they stand with Israel, and (b) judge the whole world in righteousness. These end-times are leading up to a seven-year period of extreme judgement, where everyone on earth will be required to make up their mind as to who they will serve: God or the enemy satan.

Israel, of course, when facing total destruction from their enemies (as listed in Ezekiel 38), would quickly agree to a mutual defence treaty if it were seen as absolutely the only option that might save their nation from annihilation. After all, Israel’s current reliance upon US to assist them is not from a religious point of view, but from a desperate need for survival. Israel is a tiny country compared with most of its neighbours, with more limited resources than most, too. Their population is quite mixed, from Druze, Bedouin (an Arab population around 21%), with only 78% identifying as Jews, many of whom do not actively believe Judaism. In all there are less than 10 million citizens of Israel. And yet, with comparatively huge populations in other middle-east countries, Israel still manages to have a higher life-style than most others. Their defence forces are more effective than in any of the surrounding countries, and it is believed that they have sufficient nuclear warheads to destroy most of the lands around them.

However, in spite of this, huge enemy numbers will one day overwhelm them, in an invasion prophesied in Ezekiel 38. Joel may have referred to this when he wrote “Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.” (Joel 3:9-10) Note that this is a call to those non-Jewish nations who might be too scared to commit themselves to battle against a foe who might cause immense injury to them. But they will one day think that they have the huge numbers necessary to overwhelm Israel and they (the weak ones) will consider themselves strong enough to oppose Israel. “Let those weak ones declare that because of their huge superiority of numbers they are able to defeat the small nation of Israel!” Like all bullies, they are only willing to take on a much smaller country when they have hugely superior numbers.

This invasion will be only the start of what would have to be called World War 3 (and the war to end all wars!). Once the antichrist signs that mutual defence treaty with Israel, the final 7 years to Armageddon begins the count-down. The invasion will be short-lived, for Ezekiel goes on (Ch.38 and into Ch.39) to declare that God will wreak vengeance upon these invading armies and utterly destroy them, using the antichrist and his forces to set up that final seven-year period of Israel before their Messiah returns. As part of his treaty with Israel, it seems that antichrist will rebuild their temple for their sacrifices according to the Law; this also has to assume that the temple mount will be cleared of other buildings in preparation for the new temple. If other buildings such as the mosque and its compound are in the way, then they will be destroyed, probably in the fighting leading up to or during or following the invasion of Israel. Israel will have initially made a pact with satan’s antichrist in order to survive; pure necessity will drive this decision. But prophecy is clear: God will be in charge of all events and nothing will occur without God’s approval. Even when things look darkest in coming years, God will never have left His sovereign throne; He will always rule. Every shocking event will lead to God’s final absolute victory at Armageddon.

Why would the antichrist want to save Israel, especially if he is empowered by satan? Wouldn’t satan actually hate Israel as his enemy? The simple answer is Yes! However, we have to look at what satan really wants above all. Yes, satan wants dominion over the earth, but even more than that, he wants to be as God. “I will be like the most High” – Isaiah 14:14. The God of Israel is truly God, but they must also worship Him as God. “I will be their God, and they shall be my people” – Ezekiel 37:27. Thus, in satan’s mind is that the one whom Israel worships is their God. Put simply, he wants to be worshipped by God’s people. But why would Israel worship satan, or actually, just a man. However, if that man should save their nation, save them as a people, then might they then see him as their saviour? And if the antichrist can be accepted as the saviour of Israel, and therefore their Messiah, then surely they would then worship him? Especially if he rebuilds their temple and sets it up for sacrifices according to the Law?

Thus the antichrist will try to deceive them into accepting him as their saviour, their Messiah, their God, and ultimately worship him, for once the temple sacrifices are up and running, he’ll then demand himself to be worshipped by Israel. That’s what Daniel 9:27 tells us: that in the middle of that final seven-year period, the antichrist will cause their sacrifices and cleansings by the Law to cease. “In the midst of the week he (the antichrist) shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate” (Daniel 9:27)
And he will become that abomination of whom Jesus said: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains.” (Matthew 24:15-16)

Some teach that Jesus was talking about Antiochus IV Epiphanes of the Seleucid empire from around 175 to 164 BC. He committed abominations in the temple allegedly by erecting a statue of Zeus and sacrificing a pig on the altar, an event said to be the “abomination of desolation.” This led to significant Jewish resistance and the Maccabean revolt. However, Jesus spoke about an event still yet in His future, and so, while Antiochus committed abominations in the temple, the real abomination would be when the antichrist himself sits in the temple at the midpoint of that final seven-year period demanding to be worshipped as God by Israel. Jesus also told the people (referring to Israel) to escape, to flee for safety from this abomination. Revelation 12:13-17 prophesies that Israel will flee into the wilderness under God’s care for the second half of that final seven years. Israel avoiding worshipping the antichrist then leads ultimately to Armageddon where the antichrist tries to capture Jerusalem in order to force Israel to worship him in the temple. However, Christ, Israel’s Messiah returns at Armageddon to destroy the antichrist’s forces and save His people Israel as their true Saviour and Lord. The antichrist is thrown into the lake of fire, and satan is imprisoned for 1000 years, then set free for one last attack on God’s people, is defeated, and is thrown into the lake of fire forever. Satan will never be worshipped by God’s people, never to be like God in any way!

Why would Europe be declaring war on the armies that invade Israel? In recent years most of Europe has been opposed (often obsessively so) to Israel’s efforts to defend itself against the terrorist rabbles that are working hard to destroy Israel. Yet prophecy says that it will be a European who makes a covenant with Israel for one week (that is, the final seven years before Armageddon).

“the people of the prince (or ruler, leader) that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:” (Daniel 9:26-27) There is a future ruler who will come from the people who would destroy Jerusalem and the temple. This destruction occurred in 70 AD and it was the Roman empire that did it. Therefore the coming ruler will be from the Roman empire, or effectively from that which represents a continuation of that empire today, that is, Europe today. This ruler will sign a covenant (most likely a mutual defence treaty) with “many” which here can only signify Israel (because the context of this passage is certainly Israel). Therefore it will be Europe and not USA that comes to the aid of Israel when they are invaded by a huge army from nations around them (including Iran, Turkey, Russia, Libya and Ethiopia).

Currently Europe is waking up to the threat of Russia facing them. Russia has been pushing the boundaries of civil respect with Europe for some time now, with it now being likely that they will invade the Baltic states and Finland in eastern Europe in next year or two, due to all belonging to NATO and having common borders with Russia. Poland is also being threatened with drone incursions into Polish airspace. With USA threatening withdrawal from NATO, Europe is currently scrambling to build defences quickly to oppose the threat of a Russian invasion which many believe could happen within the next 3 years, and that Russia could use nuclear weapons (something it has threatened a few times in recent years). In particular, Germany is rapidly expanding its armed forces, aiming to become the most powerful fighting force in Europe by 2029. Germany has also established a military presence in Lithuania. The Baltic states, Finland, Denmark and Sweden are also boosting defence spending and preparation.

Until recently, Europe has relied heavily upon US support for NATO defences. If USA pulls out of NATO (as threatened by Trump), then Europe may not be sufficiently prepared to defend against Russia. However, currently many European countries are beginning to increase readiness. Also, if Russia joins with Iran and others to invade Israel, then Europe may find it easier to defeat Russia, especially with an element of surprise. It is possible that Europe, expecting a serious threat from Russia, decides on a pre-emptive strike while Russia is involved with invading Israel.

However, ultimately, a European antichrist will lead European forces against Israel’s enemies because that’s what the Bible has prophesied. Most likely the invaders of Israel would not be expecting an attack by Europe, especially if it came without warning, noting that they would be expecting to destroy Israel, and not expecting their own sudden destruction.

The hatred that many Palestinians have for Israel is more than them just taking some of Palestine to live in. In 1948 Israel managed to settle (by force) in the small allocation finally given them via a much-watered-down Balfour Declaration of 1917. The British controlled Palestine with governance as a mandated territory until its scheduled end on 15th May 1948. From May 1948 onward the land was basically open to grab-by-force–and-hold actions. Israel had been granted most of this land under the Balfour Declaration (1917) after it had been won from the Ottoman empire (Turkey) during WW1. By 1948 only a small area remained Israel’s allocation. With the end of the British mandate of Palestine, Israel decided to occupy their allocated land starting in May 1948. This then caused immense conflict in Palestine with local peoples violently fighting for their share of the land; this is known as the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. (Note well that the land Israel then occupied was only a small fraction of the land it had occupied as a sovereign nation for more than 1200 years in the past.)

While much of the local peoples spoke Arabic, they were actually mostly not of genuine Arab descent. In general the Arabs are descended from Abraham’s son Ismael, while most Palestinians are actually the descendants of Canaanites who were a separate people from the Arabs. While they might speak Arabic, they are mostly not descendants of Ishmael. Note also that the people of Lebanon are also not Arabic but Canaanite, even though most would speak Arabic. In Matthew 15:21-22, Jesus talked with a woman of Canaan living in the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And Gaza was one of the 5 cities of the Philistines who lived in Canaan but were originally from Crete. Iran’s proxy terrorist enemies of Israel in Lebanon and Gaza might also speak Arabic but this doesn’t make them genuine Arabs. And in Iran the official language is Persian, also known as Farsi, and not Arabic.

Therefore it is not a matter of language group that determines the enmity between Palestinians and Israel; it is the religion that unites these peoples opposed to Israel: Islam. Even in Islam there are divisions such as Shia and Sunni. The main difference between Shia and Sunni muslims is their belief about leadership; Shia muslims believe that leadership should remain within their prophet’s family, while Sunni muslims believe leaders should be chosen by consensus. Iran is mostly Shia and therefore their leaders are supposed to be chosen from clerics; this can lead to religious extremism.

Islamic people can often be violently opposed to Israel, seeking to establish Islam alone in Palestine. In 1948 the displacement of Palestinians from Israel’s allocated land led to nakba (“catastrophe” or “disaster”). This event is a significant part of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is commemorated annually on May 15 as Nakba Day.

Constantin Zureiq, a professor of history at the American University of Beirut, in his 1948 book The Meaning of the Disaster wrote that it was “one of the most difficult that Arabs have ever known over their long history.” Why the most difficult? Simply that there was now a serious threat to their apparent monopoly of religion (Islam); they saw Israel’s existence as most difficult because of their religion. And the Palestinians had desired that Palestine would be Islamic from the river to the sea!
